Artist statement

Photography is, for me, a tool for exploring a person’s inner world. I believe that any photograph created by an artist is a reflection of themselves.

Feeling is my primary way of understanding the world, so in my work I turn to the most “prickly” themes of the soul: nostalgia for the past, attachment to a place, anxiety caused by uncertainty, and the comfort found in physical interactionwith the world.

When working with a person, it’s important for me to build trust and help them turn their gaze inward. The foundation ofmy method is conversation. Without a connection with another person, it’s impossible to capture a true portrait. By gettingto know another, you get to know yourself. By getting to know yourself, you help another. In a sincere connection, truth isborn — and for me, that truth is more important than beauty.
